The new MASTER mower range from Pottinger consists of five models: the NOVACAT 261, 301, 351 ALPHA MOTION MASTER disc mowers, the EUROCAT 311 ALPHA MOTION MASTER, EUROCAT 311 and ALPHA MOTION PLUS MASTER drum-type mowers.
The new MASTER models are attached to the tractor using a three-point mounting. Thanks to its short headstock – the mower is 34 cm closer to the tractor – the centre of gravity is also nearer the tractor. At the same time, the distribution of weight between the front and rear axles has been improved. With a weight saving of more than 40 kg (incl. Weiste triangle), fuel consumption is also minimised. The ground clearance in the transport position is 30 cm on all models. Due to the limited mounting space, however, it is not possible to fit ALPHA MOTION MASTER models with ED or RCB conditioners.
Thanks to the new headstock and other optimisations, the new mower models can also be powered effectively by smaller tractors (up to 28″ front tyres).
Visually, the new models feature an attractive front mower design with a light green carrier frame. The MASTER models also have the linkage system from the ALPHA MOTION mowers as well as a sturdy cutter bar with TRI DRIVE for improved power transmission and an extended service life.
A highlight of the ALPHA MOTION is the advanced linkage geometry of the carrier frame. On conventional headstocks only the leading linkage responded to bumps in the ground. With the ALPHA MOTION headstock the entire carrier frame adapts to the ground contours. Each movement controls the carrier frame to ensure a “floating cut”.
The carrier frame slants downwards on downhill gradients and upwards when ascending. The result is a unique quality of sward protection thanks to perfect guidance over every contour – even at high speed and on wet ground. The mower unit is protected effectively against any sudden impact.
Pottinger claim the mechanical components are subjected to much less stress because of the harmonious flow of the mower and, as a result, wear is reduced and the service life of the mower extended. The headstock design means the centre of gravity is as close to the tractor as possible in all working positions.
