Four-cylinder tractors offer up to 180hp
Claas has launched a new range of four-cylinder tractors with maximum outputs from 145hp to 180hp, combining a compact chassis with a continuously variable transmission.
The new Arion 5 Cmatic series comprises three models: the Arion 5.140 Cmatic, Arion 5.160 Cmatic and Arion 5.180 Cmatic. All use a 4.5-litre four-cylinder engine and Cmatic power-split continuously variable transmission.
The range-topping Arion 5.180 Cmatic produces 180hp and 730Nm of maximum torque at 1,500rpm. With an unladen weight of 7,700kg, it has a claimed power-to-weight ratio of 42.8kg/hp.
The Arion 5.160 Cmatic develops 165hp and 697Nm, with an unladen weight of 7,600kg, while the Arion 5.140 Cmatic produces 145hp and 619Nm and weighs 7,280kg. Maximum permitted weights are 11,000kg for the two larger models and 10,250kg for the Arion 5.140 Cmatic.
The tractors are designed as versatile machines for field, transport, grassland and loader applications. A wheel-loader mode within the Cmatic transmission is intended to improve performance during repetitive loader work.
The transmission also incorporates adaptive drivetrain management and Auto load anticipation, which anticipates changes in engine load and adjusts engine speed and transmission ratio to maintain performance.
A 50km/h road speed is available at an engine speed of 1,490rpm. The tractors feature Proactiv front axle suspension and a fully suspended cab.
Equipment includes a standard Cebis terminal, Cmotion multifunction control lever and a 150l/min load-sensing hydraulic system supporting up to six control circuits.
The tractors can be specified with a front linkage and a K80 hitch capable of handling a 4t drawbar load, targeting heavy trailer and tanker applications.
Technology options include Cemos dialog operator assistance, Cemis 1200 guidance and Claas connect connectivity. The system supports machine and task management, documentation, fleet monitoring and precision farming applications.
Other options include dynamic steering, reducing steering-wheel turns by approximately half, plus up to 20 LED lights and a new multimedia system incorporating Apple Carplay, Android Auto and DAB+.
The new range will make its public debut at Innov-agri in France on 9 and 10 September.
