New rake at Welsh grassland event

  • Visitors to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society’s Sustainable Muck and Grass event will get the opportunity to see SIP’s new STAR R 770/24TC rake in action for the first time.

SIP will be attending the event at Aberystwyth University Farm, Trawscoed on 30th to support dealers Amaeth Cothi, Clwyd Agricultural and Borders dealer Edwards & Farmer and will demonstrate the innovative STAR R 770/24TC rake on its working plot.

From SIP’s Robust line of professional grass machinery, the trailed central delivery STAR R 770/24TC rake has hydraulic working width adjustment from 6.80-7.70m and offers capacity of up to 10ha/hr. Swath widths from 1.20-2.10m can be produced to suit a range of balers and foragers.

This highly productive rake features 12 tine arms per rotor with spring tines, capable of higher revolutions for increased working speed.

Working height can be adjusted mechanically and mechanical rotor suspension is an option to adapt to the terrain, minimising soil and turf damage and enhancing stability on slopes.

Also on the working plot, allowing farmers and contractors to see this advanced, productive range of machinery in action, will be a front/rear combination, the Silver Cut 340 F FSC and Silver Cut 340 S FSC.

Working width of 3.4m for each mower offers the high outputs needed by today’s green harvest teams, while keeping horsepower requirement and fuel costs down.

These mowers feature a bolted cutterbar with specially shaped discs for excellent forage flow and a long lifespan, plus SIP’s renowned Disc Drive Safety System and have steel tine conditioners.

Completing the line-up is the Spider 1100/10T 10-rotor trailed tedder and Spider 775/6 7.75m six-rotor mounted tedder. The Spider 1100 showcases the impressive capacity of a trailed tedder, again for relatively modest horsepower, while the Spider 775/6 features hook tines, proven to offer improved ground contact and improved pick-up in heavier crops.
