Self-Adjusting Spreader for Precision Agronomy
Amazone has launched the ZA-TS 01 AutoSpread, an innovative fertiliser spreader that continuously monitors and adjusts its distribution in real time. Tested across more than 100,000 ha, AutoSpread is designed to address one of the core challenges in precision fertilisation: accounting for variable fertiliser batches, soil conditions and environmental influences without manual intervention.
AutoSpread’s sensor suite measures both throwing direction and throwing distance in actual field conditions, rather than relying solely on preset charts. This allows the system to maintain optimal lateral distribution automatically—even compensating for variations in fertiliser physical properties or changes mid-application. Coupled with the AmaConnect link to the Spreader Application Centre (SAC), the spreader’s live pattern data is validated against a digital “twin” model, enabling dynamic adjustments or alerts to the operator when deviations occur. Importantly, this functionality is preserved in offline mode, making the system robust across varied field reception.
From a soils and tillage perspective, the ZA-TS 01 integrates:
- Automated Section Control switch-on/off points based on real spread performance,
- Full boundary and water-course spreading via integrated BorderTS/AutoTS modules, with automatic parameter calculation from simply inputting boundary distance,
- CurveControl to adjust distribution when cornering or traversing irregular field geometry, minimising overlap or drift.
The new user software presents a simplified, intuitive interface. Farmers no longer need to interpret complex setting charts—just key in desired boundary offsets and let the machine compute optimal parameters. The need for frequent manual spreader tests is significantly reduced, with the system flagging worn vanes or irregular patterns preemptively.
The ZA-TS 01 Ultra will launch initially in 4,200 L and 5,000 L hopper versions, with full rollout planned for 2027. For growers and operators looking to enhance accuracy, reduce manual calibration time and better match nutrient application to spatial variability, the ZA-TS 01 AutoSpread offers a compelling step toward fully adaptive application.
