Harvester refinements to improve crop flow and soil separation 

Potato harvesting performance is often determined as much by soil conditions as crop yield, and AVR’s latest updates to the Spirit 9200i reflect the continued focus on improving crop flow, cleaning efficiency and adaptability in varying soils. 

Introduced for the 2026 model year, the upgraded two-row offset bunker harvester receives improvements to its control systems, traction, haulm intake, cleaning modules and bunker operation, with particular emphasis on maintaining gentle crop handling while improving overall harvesting efficiency.  

The revised haulm web and cleaning system have been developed to deliver more consistent crop flow through the machine, while updates to the pintle belt module and cross-roller cleaning unit provide greater flexibility when working in differing soil textures and moisture conditions. 

Maintaining effective soil separation without damaging tubers remains one of the principal challenges in potato harvesting, particularly during difficult seasons. AVR’s fully hydraulic drive system allows operators to adjust individual harvesting elements independently, helping optimise cleaning performance while reducing unnecessary crop damage. 

The company has also refined the machine’s traction and control systems, alongside improvements to the Clean & Go bunker, with the aim of reducing operator workload and improving day-long harvesting productivity. 

Rather than representing a complete redesign, the latest updates continue the development of the Spirit 9200i platform, building on its existing fully hydraulic architecture and modular cleaning concept. 

The updated harvester joins several other new developments from AVR scheduled to appear at Potato Europe 2026, highlighting the manufacturer’s continued emphasis on increasing harvesting efficiency while preserving crop quality under increasingly challenging field conditions.
