Manufacturer returns to specialist tractor market
Three new 100–120hp models combine a stepless transmission, integrated precision farming technology and a narrow-format design for orchards, hop yards and other high-value crops.
Steyr has returned to the specialist tractor sector with the launch of its Spezial F CVT range, comprising three models aimed at fruit, hop and other perennial crop producers.
Unveiled in St Valentin, Austria, the line-up includes the 4100, 4110 and 4120 Spezial F CVT, with maximum power outputs spanning 100hp to 120hp.
The tractors use a 3.6-litre FPT engine and Steyr’s S-Control CVT stepless transmission. According to the manufacturer, the transmission enables a top transport speed of 50km/h at 1,780rpm, while 40km/h is achieved at 1,500rpm.
A reversible cooling fan is fitted for work in dusty conditions, while the fuel tank holds 104 litres. Adaptive steering settings allow operators to alter steering response for manoeuvring in confined rows and on challenging terrain.
Hydraulics and precision technology
A closed-centre, load-sensing hydraulic system provides 115 litres/minute and supports multiple rear and side remote valves. Steyr says this allows several operations to be carried out simultaneously in a single pass.
The available precision farming package includes S-Guide automated steering, the Infomat 1200 touchscreen terminal, EasyTronic II headland management, S-Turn automated row-end turning and an A1000 receiver. Connectivity to the FieldOps digital farm management platform is also offered.
Alessio Quatraro, product marketing at STEYR, said specialist growers faced particular challenges, including confined spaces, difficult terrain and increasingly precise production requirements. He said the Spezial F CVT brought the technology, comfort and efficiency associated with modern Steyr tractors into a dedicated specialist platform.
Cab comfort and protection
Cab equipment includes adjustable suspension, a suspended front axle and a premium seat. Steyr quotes an in-cab noise level of 69dB.
Category 4 cab filtration is designed to support spraying operations, while a pneumatic trailer brake valve is available for trailed equipment. A 12-LED work-light package is complemented by an optional camera system covering the left, right and rear of the tractor.
The launch marks Steyr’s return to a segment in which it has previous form. The company’s Austrian-built 80 Series specialist tractors were manufactured in St Valentin between 1979 and 1997.
The new Spezial F CVT range is intended for wider-row orchards, hop production, sloping ground and other demanding high-value crop applications.
