Bringing precision planting to a wider audience
Following successful field trials during 2026, Pöttinger is preparing for the full European launch of its PURO H 3000precision planter for the 2027 planting season.
Designed primarily for maize, sunflower and sorghum, the six-row planter features a telescopic toolbar that transports horizontally within a 3m road width while offering working widths of up to 4.5m.
At its heart is a vacuum metering unit designed to deliver highly accurate seed singulation through the combined action of gravity and low-pressure air. The system is intended to provide consistent spacing across a wide range of field conditions, while DUAL DISC coulters capable of applying up to 180kg of downforce help maintain precise planting depth in conventional, minimum tillage and direct-drilled situations.
Ease of operation has also received considerable attention. Seed discs can be changed without emptying the hopper, while each 68-litre hopper holds up to 900,000 maize seeds, reducing refill frequency during busy planting periods.
The planter can also be equipped with a 1,300-litre fertiliser hopper using independently suspended double-disc fertiliser coulters with separately adjustable depth and band placement.
Although the initial production machines use mechanical metering, electric metering units are planned, paving the way for section control, variable-rate planting and further automation in future models.
For specialist row-crop growers, the PURO H represents another example of how precision planting technology is becoming increasingly accessible while retaining the robustness and simplicity required for demanding field conditions.
