Manufacturers Line-Up Set for Scotgrass Debut
JCB will put several new and updated machines to work in front of farmers and contractors at ScotGrass on Wednesday 13 May, with the new Fastrac 6300 making its public working debut at the grassland event near Lockerbie, Dumfries & Galloway.
Staged by the AEA at Slacks Farm, the show is billed as a practical, working showcase of grass management, harvesting and feeding technology. JCB’s demonstrations will include the 335hp Fastrac 6300 and a 235hp Fastrac 4220 on McHale’s working plot (103), where the tractors will be paired with high-capacity kit such as mowers, tedders, balers and wrappers.
The flagship 6300 keeps the Fastrac’s full axle suspension front and rear, designed to boost comfort and maintain traction in the field. JCB says it can travel legally at up to 66kph, supported by suspended axles and a braking system built to commercial vehicle standards. Power comes from a new engine matched to a stepless transmission for smoother speed changes and more efficient torque delivery.
In the cab, JCB’s iCON touch-screen control centre can add ISOBUS implement control and comes with factory-installed precision farming options. Features include multi-mode guidance with automated headland turn patterns, plus a twin satellite receiver set-up intended to maintain accuracy over rolling terrain.
Also appearing in the working line-up is the latest 435S loading shovel, which will be shown on the silage clamp. JCB says peak output rises 12% to 282hp, delivering a claimed 19hp/tonne power-to-weight ratio, and adds new control features for the six-speed powershift, plus optional load weighing and lever steering. For bale stacking, the Loadall 542-100 brings a 4.2t lift capacity and 9.8m lift height with a 40kph or 50kph DualTech VT transmission, while the new TM110 ultra-compact telescopic wheeled loader measures 1.56m wide and 2.2m tall, lifts 1,100kg at full articulation to 3.5m and can tow up to 750kg.
