New tyre options for Mark 2 tractor
BKT has developed three new Agrimax V-Flecto tyre sizes for the Massey Ferguson MF 7S Mark 2, creating two front-and-rear combinations based on a 2m rear-wheel configuration.
The tyre maker said the project followed a request from Massey Ferguson for a larger-diameter fitment compatible with the tractor’s technical layout.
The brief was to increase the conventional rear-tyre diameter from about 1.93m to 2m without affecting the gearing relationship between the front and rear axles.
The resulting range comprises two rear sizes — VF 650/70 R42 and VF 710/60 R44 — and a VF 600/65 R30 front tyre. Both rear options are paired with the new front size to produce two combinations for the MF 7S Mark 2.
Development work took account of the tractor’s architecture, power range, intended applications and expected field performance.
Two configurations
The VF 650/70 R42 rear and VF 600/65 R30 front pairing is intended as the more versatile setup. Its 2m rear diameter and 650mm section width are designed to provide a large footprint while retaining maneuverability for ploughing, transport and general field work.
The wider VF 710/60 R44 rear option uses the same VF 600/65 R30 front tyre. BKT claims the rear size is an industry first in this tractor category and says it is intended for low-pressure field work where contact area and stability are priorities.
BKT said the wider combination would suit demanding field applications, including work on slopes, as well as road transport. It added that the larger footprint could improve traction and reduce soil pressure.
The tyres also feature an updated sidewall designed with Pininfarina to complement the styling of the MF 7S Mark 2.
Silvia Busnelli, head of OEM agriculture Europe at BKT Europe, said: “Our collaboration with Massey Ferguson reflects the way we support OEM projects: as a technical exchange from the earliest development stages, not simply as a fitment exercise.
“The new Agrimax V-Flecto combinations for the MF 7S Mark 2 started from a precise engineering requirement and demonstrate how tyre development can contribute directly to the performance of a tractor platform.”
BKT said the 2m rear-tyre setup was designed to combine low-pressure operation with traction and stability in field and transport applications.
Selected Agrimax V-Flecto sizes have received the DLG-Approved quality mark under the “Resources
Protection” and “User friendliness” modules, covering measures including soil protection, fuel use and ease of operation.
The new sizes were developed specifically for the MF 7S Mark 2. No wider aftermarket availability has been announced.
