The world’s most powerful CVT tractor lands
Fendt has lifted the covers on its new flagship tracked tractor range, the 1100 Vario MT Gen 2. With four models from 521hp to 680hp, the range is aimed squarely at big-acreage farms and contractors that want serious draft power without giving up the smooth control of a stepless CVT transmission. The top-spec 1167 MT is billed as the world’s most powerful CVT tractor.
Launched at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa on 2 September, the MT shows how far Fendt is pushing high-horsepower tracked machines. Built at the brand’s Jackson factory in Minnesota, the new series gets a completely revised cab, the familiar FendtONEworkstation, updated lighting and flexible terminal and 3L-joystick layouts for operators who spend long days drilling, cultivating or pulling heavy kit.
“The new 1100 MT takes the best bits of the wheeled range and adds the economy and muscle farmers need to cover ground quickly and keep costs under control. The MAN D38 and MAN D42 engines have updated control units, a new Tractor Management System and a hydraulic fan that runs independently of the engine,” says Fendt’s Ed Dennett.
In the cab, operators get an armrest-mounted multi-function joystick with freely assignable buttons, a 12-inch armrest terminal, a 3L-joystick and a digital dashboard behind the steering wheel. A second roof-mounted terminal can also be specified. ISOBUS implement control is standard, while task documentation, telemetry and optional Fendt Guide bring the MT into line with modern precision farming demands.
“The MT can be fitted with our TI Headland management system, which automates headland turns and adjusts implementheight automatically. A dual-pump hydraulic system gives more oil capacity and pressure, and the tractor can be specified with up to eight spools. At the heart of the machine is the Mobile Track System, designed to put power down cleanly while spreading weight to reduce compaction,” adds Mr Dennett.
The tractor runs on a 3m-long twin-track system using 10m of belt, giving a long footprint compared with triangular systems. The six-axle track layout spreads the machine’s almost 20t weight, while new Michelin tracks are offered from 18in to 36in wide. For the UK, the widest option will be 27.5in to keep overall transport width to 3m.
“The two-track design has fewer moving parts, which helps keep operating costs down. The longer track also allows maximum permissible weight to rise by 7t to almost 27t, backed up by a 9t rear lift capacity,” he says.
Day-to-day usability has been improved too. Dust extraction and passive filter cleaning should help in dry, chaffy conditions, access to oil controls has been made easier and a compressed-air connection is available for cleaning down. Fuel capacity is up by 16 litres to 1,370 litres, and Fendt expects upcoming DLG testing to underline the tractor’s fuel-efficiency credentials.
“The Fendt 1100 Vario MT series is available to order now through UK dealers, with the first machines expected to arrive in early 2027,” concludes Mr Dennett.
