Packer roller added

AMAZONE has expanded its packer roller line-up with the DFW 580 double flex ring roller, aimed at arable growers using mounted cultivation equipment across variable UK soils.

Available for Cenio and Cenius mounted cultivators and Catros mounted compact disc harrows, the new roller is designed to work from light sandy land through to loams. Its open construction, 280 mm ring spacing and 580 mm outer diameter are intended to improve soil flow and reduce blocking in challenging conditions.

The roller uses two rows of solid flex rings to create a continuous spring action. AMAZONE says this helps produce fine tilth, reconsolidate the seedbed at depth and leave a loose surface finish. A 140 mm central tube and staggered ring layout provide a self-driving effect, supporting reliable performance on lighter soils.

For growers moving between fields, the solid ring design is also intended to limit soil pick-up and reduce the carry-over of soil and weed seeds. Constant ring flexing gives a self-cleaning action, which should be useful where wet or sticky conditions increase the risk of soil build-up on mounted implements.

An optional harrow system can be specified for additional crumbling and levelling. It can also assist cultural weed control by lifting emerging volunteer cereals and leaving them on the surface to desiccate.

Key claimed benefits include good turning characteristics, high load-bearing capacity, suitability across sandy and loamy soils, deep reconsolidation, a loose surface finish and strong self-cleaning performance.
