Fresh tractors with enhanced efficiency and automation
CLAAS has unveiled its new AXION 8 CMATIC tractor range, replacing the established AXION 800 series with three new six-cylinder models designed to deliver improved performance, operator comfort and lower ownership costs.
The new AXION 8 CMATIC tractors cover the 240 to 290hp power range, increasing to 264 to 313hp with DYNAMIC POWER, and combine proven drivetrain technology with a redesigned cab, upgraded electronics and new automation features.
The three-model range – AXION 8.240 CMATIC, AXION 8.270 CMATIC and AXION 8.290 CMATIC – is powered by a 6.7-litre FPT NEF six-cylinder engine, delivering up to 1,282Nm of torque. The engines are approved for HVO fuel, offering the potential to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90%.
A key development is the new CEMOS AUTO POWERTRAIN system, incorporating DYNAMIC POWER, AUTO DROOP and predictive AUTO LOAD ANTICIPATION technology. The system automatically adjusts engine output, transmission settings and power distribution according to workload, helping maximise productivity while reducing fuel consumption.
The CMATIC continuously variable transmission has also been upgraded, with the tractors capable of achieving 50km/h at just 1,400rpm or 40km/h at 1,300rpm. An automatic trailer overrun brake is available to improve safety during transport operations.
Inside the new cab, operators benefit from reduced noise levels of just 67dB(A), increased space, improved storage and premium seating options including ventilation, heating and massage functions. A new CEBIS connect terminal provides control of tractor functions, GPS PILOT guidance and digital machine management.
Maintenance costs have also been addressed, with service intervals extended to 750 operating hours and filter replacement intervals increased. CLAAS is offering additional cost protection through MAXI CARE Focus, covering key components for five years or 5,000 hours, with MAXI CARE Protect available for extended warranty cover.
The AXION 8 CMATIC also introduces driver-monitored autonomy capability through a Vehicle Control Unit, allowing pre-planned work orders to be completed automatically while the operator supervises operations from the cab.
CLAAS says the new tractors are designed to provide contractors and professional farmers with increased productivity, reduced running costs and greater flexibility across field, transport and mixed farming applications.
