Farm Safety Week: 21 to 25 July
It is Farm safety week, which aims to improve safety standards on Britain’s farms.
HSE’s recently released statistics show the number of fatalities in agriculture, forestry and fishing remained high in 2024 to 2025.
Of the 27 people killed in agriculture, forestry and fishing, 23 of them were workers. In addition, 4 members of the public were also killed, 2 of them being children.
Wayne Owen, HSE inspector, said: “Farmers must put the health and safety of themselves and others at the heart of what they do. As always, we will continue to play our part, but the recently released HSE statistics show the number of fatalities remains stubbornly high.
“That children continue to be killed on Britain’s farms is also a source of tragedy and sadness and is totally unacceptable. Things must change and responsibility for that rests with the industry itself.”
Guidance and free resources for the agriculture industry are available on the HSE’s website.
