New narrow and wide body spreader ranges

  • G T Bunning and Sons will launch a new spreader range at LAMMA 2024 suited to users seeking accurate, lower application rates of dense products such as lime as well as FYM, chicken manure and compost
  • The company will also show an additional model in the high-capacity Lowlander Widebody HBD range

The new Bunning Lowlander 120 Compact Narrow HBD spreader will be on the stand and is part of Bunning’s new Lowlander Narrow range. The four new models – Lowlander 120, 120 (Compact), 150 and 150 (Compact) – feature narrower bodies to achieve lower application rates whilst retaining the two 1,100mm spinning discs as standard on HBD machines.

Ben Johnson, UK and Ireland sales manager at Bunning, says the new range offers greater versatility for a wide range of products. “The Narrow spreaders will appeal to users wanting to run wider tyres to reduce compaction but keep within a 3m road width and allows lower applications rates to be applied due to a narrower aperture.”

The Narrow range retains the high build quality associated with Bunning spreaders and features a 1,250mm-wide body compared with the 1,500mm body on standard HBD machines. Especially suited to applying heavy products, a larger floor drive gearbox, increasing torque from 5,000Nm to 8,000Nm, and larger motors on the gearbox to increase torque at low floor speeds have also been added to the range.

To improve product transfer to the discs, the spreaders feature additional floor slats on every other horizontal chain link on the moving floor – standard HBD spreaders feature a floor slat on every third horizontal link. Running wider flotation tyres is a popular factory upgrade and, due to the narrow body, the new range can be fitted with wider 800/70 R38 tyres to reduce compaction and remain under 3m wide. The model on stand is available for demonstration throughout the UK next year and the Narrow spreaders can be ordered now.

Also on show will be an additional model for Bunning’s largest Lowlander Widebody range. The 250 HBD is a 25t rated spreader capable of carrying 26m3 and sits above the current largest UK machine, the 230 HBD. It features a 200mm longer body, a full chassis construction, and the option to increase carrying capacity to 31m3 with side extensions for light products such as compost.
